Happy New Year!

This is me today, at 24 weeks and 3 days. Compare to the post two down where I announced the pregnancy... I grew a lot in six weeks!

That spot on my forehead is called "The Mask of Pregnancy"... I love how dramatic and Dumas-esque that sounds. It's supposed to go away after birth.

In about five hours, I leave for New York to stay a few weeks at Yaddo, an artists' colony. I've never done such a thing, and I hope it will be a great experience.

Happy 2007, everyone!

Erika,
May you have a nice safe trip.

BTW, I thought I'd mention something I found useful during my pregnancy. My skin felt really dry and sore and no regular lotion seemed to work.

The only thing that I found any relief with was something I had heard of back at Michigan State from some students who worked with farm animals. "Bag Balm" is the tradename of a cream made essentially of lanolin and it is designed to help keep cow's udders supple.

It worked wonders on my sore stretched out belly. A girlfriend of mine who was pregnant after me got my leftovers. She felt that she'd either use Bag Balm or have to take a sheep and spread it over her abdomen.

Just a thought. Here is hoping the New Year brings you great joy with the birth of your child, good health, great success with the publication of your novel and continued creative inspiration!
